Metalyear 2008

In 2 Months the Year is over, and i think its time to take a look back to the releases,concerts etc. this year. In my Opinion 2008 was a great year! Amon Amarth´s "Twilight of the Thundergod" was the best release for me till now.

My favorite release of the year so far - an album that isn't even out yet,btw - would have to be the new Cynic album, 'Traced in Air'. It's a stunning piece of work, and I would even go so far as to say it's right up there with their legendary album 'Focus' in terms of sheer musical brilliance. Just a joy to listen to.

Second place goes to Misery Index with their latest album, 'Traitors'. Got the CD two days ago and I've been listening to it ever since. These guys just keep out doing themselves with every release. Great, great album.

I can't decide on a third runner up, so here's a list of some of my other favorite albums of the year, thus far. I'll try and keep it short:

For some reason the vast majority of my metal buying habits this year have been for old albums, Ive only got a few new out this year, but I have to agree, Twilight Of The Thundergod, its like With Oden By Our Side with less story and more brutality...great contrast and they go really well played one after the other.

Opeth again continues on their path of greatness with Watershed, in fact im listening to it as im typing this in the Uni libery!

I think everything else goes pre-2008!

Septic Flesh - Communion is a very good album too!

I'm waiting for the new Yngwie album to hit my mailbox. Will come back with another record here then I guess

well belphegor is the second best, Metallica with death magnetic was the best release this year!!!

One of my favorite events in this metal year is dvd Dark Funeral-Attera Orbis Terrarum II., excellent live shows in Argentina and Brasil and more footage.. great work!!! :twisted:

My input will be Ofermod's long awaited album Tiamtü.
I think this will be ritualistic metal music to utmost brilliance. It took a while but finally Michayah showed his musical genius.
