I've been to many great gigs and watched alot of great bands, but the bands I really enjoyed live are:

The dillinger escape plan @ Klubben Sthlm (SWE) -05 (i think)
they kicked ass live and the energy at the concert where great!

Mayhem @ Gates of metal festival (SWE) -06
Really good gig and Attilas vocals where great!
they didn't play freezing moon for some unknown reason which sucked hard time :(

Nile @ Skylten (SWE) -06
Nile is an exellent live band, lots of energy!
(funny fact: George kollias 1min drum-soundcheck where better then any drumsolos i've ever seen. LOL)

Devian @ Slakthuset (SWE) -07
They gave lots of energy and gave it all to the audience though it was really small.

This is such a tough question - there are so many bands that I've seen over the years that have completely blown me away!

Here's a few that I feel deserve a special mention...

Vesperian Sorrow @ The Purple Turtle, Camden - 2006 - I'd been a fan of VS for ages and I certainly wasn't let down by their live show. 100% awesome fuckin' metal!

Devilish Impressions & Thus Defiled @ The Underworld, Camden - 2007 - Both of these bands are in my current list of favourites and both have such a fantastic energy live!

Obituary @ The Mean Fiddler, London - 2006 - It's Obi... What more can I say?

There have been loads of others too, like Gutworm, Alice Cooper, GN'R, Megadeth, etc... I could be here all day!

It will be good when I get to see Devian do their thing :D

First of all Dissection at Hovet, Stockholm on Saturday, 25 of June, 2006.
Will always remind this one by heart.

The second one is Absu on their tour throughout Europe with Enslaved in 1998 if my mind is not cheating on me (correct me if I am wrong)

starting to get offtopic... please continue through PM if you want the answer or want to discuss that more.

Another great live band i've seen is Skitarg
Click here for the bands myspace

Image

The stageshow was really funny and completely insane, imagine 5band members that acted really "fuckup" on stage and is playing punk/something and just freaksout on stage.
They sound pretty lame on myspace/album compared of the live sound and the energy and preformance live is just kickass!

The songs lyrics is about a guy who wears a cap and the band really hates caps (keps-killen tommy is the songname) and much more...
if you have the chance to see these clowns live, do so, you will laugh![/url]

It's a tie between Opeth and Meshuggah, both were absolutely incredible.

I have literally seen hundreds of live shows. There are only a few that stand out in a big way, and sadly, they aren't really metal. Ok, I am aging myself again now.... but wtf:

1. Pantera - Carter Junior High School Dance 1982 (I was 12, Darrell was 15, and his hair was BIG!)

2. Santana - Texxas Jam 1982 - Carlos Santana was amazing. Also, I fell in love with Ted Nugent's ass at this fest, does that count?

3. Iron Maiden / W.A.S.P. - Dallas, TX 1983 - Do I even have to explain?

4. Rush - The -ONLY- drum solo to resonate in my ears for weeks after the show. Neil Peart is a GOD.

5. Nifelheim - 2 Heavy 4 U, Falkenberg, Sweden 2001 - It was the Fucking Nifelheim Brothers and I experienced the best kiss of my life during that gig! What more could a gal ask for?

6. Motorhead - SRF 2002, It was Lemmy, LIVE.

7. Zakk Wylde - A Small bar in Downtown Dallas - 2000. -An amazing acoustic set that I will never forget.

8. Thornspawn - Tattoo Bar, Fort Worth, TX - 2003. Drums sucked so bad, I had to leave the venue. First time ever I have had to do that. Memorable, but... not so much for a good thing.

9. Legion
Some venue in Goteborg I was thrown out of into the night, in the snow, all alone, and I couldn't drive off cuz I agreed to carry instruments in the car I was driving... but, I had beer in the trunk and so, a steady stream of metalheads kept me company through it all. The best metal gig I never saw the end of.

Well, I've been to many shows too, but the most memorable are (in no particual order):

Metallica - Master of Puppets tour

Slayer - Reign in Blood tour

Marduk - North American tour - 2001

Judas Priest - can't remember the tour name, but it was in the late 80's

Carcass - Symphonies of Sickness tour

Napalm Death - Harmony Corruption tour
